Beihai Shipbuilding and Chinese Shipping sign construction contracts for two more vessels
On April 27, Beihai Shipbuilding, in conjunction with China Shipbuilding Trading, signed construction contracts with Chinese Shipping for two 210,000 dwt bulk carriers.

The contracts were signed by Dai Shengjian, General Manager of Chinese Shipping; Zheng Minsheng, Deputy General Manager of the Asia-Pacific Department of China Shipbuilding Trading; and Yang Shuzhen, Senior Commissioner of Beihai Shipbuilding. The signing ceremony was attended and witnessed by Peng Shixiao, Chairman of Chinese Shipping; Ou Chuanjie, Chairman of Beihai Shipbuilding; Zhao Lina, Chief Financial Officer of China Shipbuilding Trading; and other distinguished guests.
Since their partnership began in 2013, Beihai Shipbuilding has delivered multiple large bulk carriers to Chinese Shipping, earning high praise from the shipowner and widespread recognition in the market for the vessels' outstanding performance and efficient operation. Building on long-term mutual trust and win-win development, the two parties reached a letter of intent for four 210,000 dwt bulk carriers in the second half of 2025, with contracts for the first two vessels taking effect at the end of last year. The signing of this follow-up contract for the next two vessels not only demonstrates Chinese Shipping's full confidence in Beihai Shipbuilding's technical capabilities and delivery performance but also marks another solid step forward in their strategic partnership.

The 210,000 dwt bulk carriers under this contract are the fifth-generation "Polaris" flagship design, independently developed by Beihai Shipbuilding, representing the leading edge in green, smart, and efficient global large bulk carrier technology. The vessels have an overall length of 300.00 meters, a molded breadth of 50.00 meters, a molded depth of 25.20 meters, and a structural draft of 18.50 meters. Through optimized hull lines, lightweight construction, and the installation of high-efficiency energy-saving devices, propulsion efficiency for this generation has been improved by more than 6 percent over its predecessor. The vessels are also equipped with exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) to reduce sulfur oxide emissions, achieving a dual breakthrough in efficiency and environmental performance.
As a well-established and renowned shipping enterprise with a long history, Chinese Shipping has been deeply engaged in the global dry bulk transportation market for decades and is recognized across the industry for its prudent operations and high-quality service. Beihai Shipbuilding remains focused on its core shipbuilding market and has constructed and delivered over one hundred large bulk carriers of various types. Following this signing, the shipyard's orderbook stands at 93 vessels, encompassing mainstream ship types including large bulk carriers, large general cargo vessels, very large ore carriers (VLOCs), VLCCs, and Suezmax tankers, with a total deadweight approaching 22 million metric tons. This further consolidates its dominant position in the global large bulk carrier construction sector.
Beihai Shipbuilding will continue to adhere to the business philosophy of "customer first, creating the future together," allocating premium resources and establishing a dedicated project team to rigorously control construction quality and timeline milestones, ensuring vessels are delivered to the highest standards and on schedule. Looking ahead, both parties will continue to move forward in partnership, create and share value together, build superior vessels with craftsmanship, and carry forward their shared ambitions on these great ships, working jointly to deliver world-class vessels that are green, energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and highly productive.
