Recently, China Securities Journal published an article titled "Green Chains Gain Momentum: Central Enterprises Accelerate Low-Carbon Transformation of Green Supply Chains," highlighting the achievements of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) in carbon footprint management. CSSC has focused on life-cycle carbon footprint accounting for ship products, establishing the industry's first comprehensive set of accounting rules and a dedicated database for the shipbuilding sector. This initiative has effectively driven coordinated emissions reduction across both upstream and downstream segments of the supply chain. The relevant practices have been successfully included in the 2025 Central Enterprise Green and Low-Carbon Supply Chain Development Report, providing valuable, replicable, and scalable experience for the wider industry.

In 2024, CSSC pioneered pilot programs for carbon footprint accounting of ship products. By 2025, the corporation achieved full coverage across its mainstream vessel models, taking the lead in establishing a comprehensive, end-to-end carbon footprint management framework. CSSC has also spearheaded the research and formulation of carbon footprint accounting standards for ship products, effectively addressing critical gaps in industry technology and standardization. Adhering to the principle of "building green ships through green manufacturing," CSSC has integrated carbon management throughout the entire supply chain process, consistently promoting coordinated emissions reduction across all links and systematically enhancing the low-carbon development level of the industrial chain. CSSC's carbon footprint efforts underscore the responsibility and commitment of a central enterprise. Moving forward, the corporation will continue to deepen its research into carbon footprint accounting, persistently strengthen the development of a green supply chain, and—rooted in carbon management—comprehensively support the green and high-quality transformation and development of the shipbuilding industry.
