On April 22, at the 2026 Container Multimodal Transport Asia Exhibition held in Shanghai, the China Container Industry Association (CCIA) announced the launch of its Green Product Evaluation System. The association also unveiled the first batch of green container products, aiming to promote the interconnection of green and low-carbon data chains and facilitate the industry's green upgrade.

According to Huang Tianhua, President of the CCIA, this is the industry's first voluntary green product evaluation system. The CCIA has established a comprehensive framework to assess the level of green development in containers across five dimensions: resources, energy, environment, quality, and low-carbon impact. The evaluation process employs a three-end collaborative model involving the association's management platform, enterprise self-declaration, and independent third-party review. A total of 27 products from 16 companies received the first batch of green product evaluations, with 18 products from companies such as CIMC Containers and Shanghai Huanyu achieving the "Green Benchmark Product" level.

Li Jun, Executive Vice President of the CCIA, introduced that the China Container Industry Green and Low-Carbon Public Service Platform officially went into operation in January 2026. The first group of users included 25 production enterprises and 5 certification bodies. The platform is equipped with high-quality domestic and international background databases, allows for the entry of supply chain carbon data, and supports data interconnection with corporate carbon platforms.

During the exhibition, the CCIA released the "China Container Supply Chain Development Report (2025-2026)," which indicated that China's total container production in 2025 was approximately 6.45 million TEUs.
